la sussurata
Hello! We are Pierluigi and Cynthia, owners of La Sussurata. Here we are having an ouzo as we wait for the sunset, a daily ritual for many while on the island. The beach you see behind us is the beach we go to for a quick swim since it's less than 100 meters from the house. And the map on the right gives the general layout of Parikia. The white rectangle on the left is the port and to the right is an arrow indicating La Sussurata. From the port to our house is more or less a 10 minute walk, depending on your walking speed. So if you come by boat, you can easily walk to La Sussurata.

Ethics and Aesthetics.

July 2003, I began the blog ART FOR HOUSEWIVES after reading 1992 World Scientists' Warning to Humanity. The blog was an attempt to learn how to MAKE ART, NOT TRASH and then share this information with others. It's amazing how many beautiful and useful objects can be made with household waste.

When possible, we try to use our Paros trash to make things for La Sussurata. Above is a work-in-progress foto of our downstairs shower curtain. It's made from plastic bags ironed and/or stitched together. We have crocheted plastic bags to make many of our throw rugs. And our placemats are made from frozen food packaging patchworked together.

La Sussurata is not just a house. It's a philosophy of life.
