In Praise of Hands
The aesthetics within....any kind of handiwork like sewing or carving or drawing soothes us. We concentrate on what we're doing. Thus the tension within is directed towards the fingertips and released.
The
hands can make thoughts come alive. Kant
called the hands "the visible
part of the brain." The hands
are the most active part of the body. When man began walking upright, the
hands were no longer used to take us there but, instead, to bring there to
here. You can walk to a tree. But you need your hands
to get to its fruit. Hands give us the ability to manipulate that which is
around us.
Women's hands, because of their delicate structure, are good at doing works of precision. Even though men's hands are stronger, women's hands are more active.
Hands represent the sense of touch.
