I had a great aunt named Ollie. She lived out in the country, alone. Use to get up every morning at 5 just to milk the cows. Aunt Ollie never even finished elementary school. Once she told me about a friend of hers who decided to go to college and said, Since I've completed my education, it's just so difficult to talk to those who haven't. Funny, said Aunt Ollie, I thought that the more one was educated, the easier it was to communicate with others.

Aunt Ollie use to love to copy quotes and then send them to friends and family. Her calligraphy was a bit awkward but, nevertheless, very proud and elegant. Not only did she enjoy the thoughts that she was copying, but you could tell that she loved the act of writing itself. A true calligrapher.

And I've decided to write letters to my son. Biographical letters where I tell him stories about the family.

And I've decided to take all my old love letters, cut them in strips, make paper chains and glue the chain onto a cardboard box that I'll use for my Love Letters To come.
